Ararat police were conducting random breath testing very early Saturday morning along Ararat's High Street when they intercepted the east-bound driver about 1.30am.
Police then administered the breath test, which produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.127 per cent.
Sergeant Shane Allgood, of Ararat, said the man's car was impounded, and he will also receive a summons to court.
