POLICE have charged two people after two officers were assaulted at a supermarket in Stawell last week.

A Victoria Police spokesman said two police officers were inside a supermarket on August 14 when a man, 38, and woman, 30, allegedly approached them.
"Shortly afterwards the police left the business and they were allegedly followed and assaulted outside," he said.
"A Senior Constable received a broken thumb and a Leading Senior Constable received a cut lip and loose teeth."
The spokesman said the Stawell man was charged with assault police, recklessly cause injury, threaten an emergency worker, resist arrest and bail offences. He was remanded to appear at Stawell Magistrates' Court on September 10.
