In what might be regarded as a calm before the storm for many, the Great Western Lions will see Saturday's match-up with Lake Bolac as the perfect test before they enter their first finals series in the Mininera District Football League.
This weekend marks the final round of the home and away season.
Whilst the Lions will be without a host of players for their final match of the regular season, coach Will Bell will be keen to see his troop perform well and keep some good momentum and there is no better match up than the quality Wickliffe Lake Bolac side fighting for a spot in the top five.
The Lions will be keen to see star forward Aaron Mckinnis get his hands on the football as he continues his return from injury, whilst the quick midfield group lead by Andrew Cameron, Nick Dunford and Danny Grellet will look to get a good work out against the quality of the Magpies.
On the netball court, several of the Lions Netball sides will also be looking to cap off a strong season with a win and cement a berth in the finals.
None more than in the A grade game where the Lions will be hungry to get the win for club favourite Kim Shalders who will step out in her 200th game for Great Western.
Kim has been instrumental in the resurgence of Great Western netball and the club wishes her all the best in her 200th outing.
