While a Navarre win would almost certainly spell the end to Avoca's season, a win may still not be enough for the eighth-placed team. Ninth-placed Newstead is even on points and less than 5 per cent behind heading into a favorable game against cellar-dweller Dunolly.
Navarre's attention will likely turn to their other sides in contention for finals action. The under 17 footballers - sitting seventh - are already locked into an elimination final against Maryborough Rovers but have the chance to ready themselves against fourth-placed Avoca.
The under 11 Grasshoppers are firmly entrenched in the top four. But they have the chance to move up from fourth if they can overcome an Avoca side that's sitting in second, avoiding an early finals match-up with top side Carisbrook.

On the netball court, Navarre will be closely watching its B Grade side as it faces off in a game between sixth and seventh, in what could well be a preview of next week's elimination final.
For the under 17 girls, currently sitting in eighth, the equation is simple. Beat an Avoca side sitting two spots above them in sixth and move on to play finals - or lose, drop to ninth and hang their bibs up for the year.
In a closely fought game earlier in the season, Avoca came out on top by seven goals at home. Navarre will be hoping that hometown support will get them over the line and keep their season alive.
