Maureen O'Shannasy, the regional officer for Consumer Affairs Ballarat Regional Office, was the guest speaker.
Ms O'Shannasy spoke on the subject Protecting Yourself from Scams, which are schemes specifically designed to deceive you, generally for the purpose of stealing your money or personal details, and now very common.
"It was a very informative presentation that provided advice on how to deal with door-to-door sales, telephone canvassers and fake tradies," U3A president Pat McAloon said.
Mr McAloon said that U3A Ararat had recently reached a total of 150 financial members.
