Horsham Saints coach Luke Fisher says his side's inaccuracy in front of goal is not an indictment of his players foot-skills.
Based on goals and behinds numbers this season, the Saints are the most inaccurate side in the Wimmera league by some margin.
The Saints have booted 84 goals and 114 behinds this season, converting with a goal on just 42.4 per cent of their scoring shots.
The next most inaccurate sides are Dimboola (47.2 per cent) and Nhill (47.9 per cent).
Fisher said the results reflected the way his side score its goals.
"I don't know what you can do about (the inaccuracy). It's not so much about being bad kicks, because sometimes I think we are the most skillful side in the competition," Fisher said.
"You can practice as much as you like, but I think it's more about where you take your shots from and your efficiency going forward.
"The way we play, we scrap goals. We don't really have a big forward line where we take big marks, so we're probably always having shots on the run."
The Saints lack of a key forward is made evident by their top goal scorers this season. Fisher and skillful half-forward Sam Jasper lead the way with just 12 goals apiece.
"We've got Angus Martin changing that a bit this year, but he hasn't been too accurate in front of goal until last week, where he kicked five goals," Fisher said.
Despite sitting in sixth and pushing hard for a finals berth, the Saints have also kicked the least amount of goals this season with 84.
"We've never been a high scoring side - that's just the way we play," Fisher said.
On the other end of the spectrum is the Ararat Rats, who have booted 140 goals this season on the back of their outside run and fast paced brand of football. The undefeated Minyip-Murtoa are next on the high scorers list with 125 goals.
The most accurate side in the Wimmera league is the Southern Mallee Giants, who have kicked 118 goals and 97 behinds, for an accuracy of 54.8 per cent.
Giants coach Coleman Schache said it was a pleasing aspect to have improved.
"I didn't know we were that accurate, but I knew we were a lot more accurate than last year," Schache said. "We certainly kicked a lot more points than goals last year."
Schache said converting in front of goal could make a huge difference in games.
"We've played in a lot of close games this season, and it has probably won us a couple of games, and kept us in a few others," he said.
