Part of the pick my project funding, Ararat Basketball Association with Ararat Rural City have coordinated to complete upgrades to the facility.

Upgrades include a new sub-structure, flooring, sanding, varnish and polishing.

The Ararat Basketball Association delivers basketball and futsal competitions in Ararat.

Association president Casanda Woods said one court was replaced about eight years ago and the other one was becoming unusable.

"The upgrades are about safety as well. The boards were becoming thin and nails were starting to protrude," she said.

"The floor has been down for around 25 years and it was time for a replacement.

"It's perfect timing as our programs and competitions don't start until the end of July."

Mrs Woods said local contractors were involved with the project.

"Ararat Rural City has been very helpful with all the administration side of the project," she said.

"We're just a voluntary organisation so it's great to have their support."

Mrs Woods said the association is still looking for registrations for the upcoming season.

"With new facilities it's a great opportunity for people to come and join the association with some new programs starting up," she said.

"The courts will be set up with the lines the same as before so everyone can use the facility."
