The quilt will be entered into the Victorian Quilt and Craft Show in July in the Primary School Exhibits section.
Show organisers put a call out to schools across the state asking for entries as previous years there was a lack in numbers.
Year six students Zali Harrison and Charlotte Butcher said they have learnt many new skills during the creating of the quilt.
"The things we have learnt to do whilst making the quilt are: using the sewing machine, forward and reverse, threading the machine, sewing at a quarter inch seam with a quarter inch foot, quilting the three layers which make the quilt (front, back and the layer of wadding in the middle) together, free-hand machine quilting (where you have to drop the feed dogs), cutting the fabric and using a roller cutter, pinning the fabric together, ironing fabric and measuring fabric," they said.
"We have made this quilt for the show, but really it will be an 'eye-spy' mat, as a gift for our teacher Rebecca and her partner Jess' baby.
"A huge thankyou to Carol McGregor and Margaret Smethurst for teaching us all of these valuable sewing skills."
