The first short term goal was to implement nude food days, encouraging staff and students to bring their food in reusable plastic containers rather than single use plastics (zip lock bags and glad wrap).

Health and physical education teacher Heidi Lang said the initiative showed a small success but the group hoped to expand to a greater level.

The group of students have also identified the rubbish in the classrooms was generally paper which can be recyclable," she said.

"They are going to implement paper bins in classrooms and general rubbish bins in the corridors-building-wings.

"The group wanted to create a small change within the school to help the movement to make the school a more beautiful place."

Mrs Lang said the students were also in the process of developing a home group lesson.

"This will help educate the other students about the impact of rubbish and what are small changes can be done on a daily basis," she said.

"They would like their long term goals to have a vegetable garden among the new buildings, including compost bins.

"It is amazing to have students who are concerned about waste and would like other schools to join this movement to ensure that we all can make Stawell a beautiful town."
