The Wimmera Football League jumped five places to 12th, while the Horsham District league now ranks 26th out of the 30 participating leagues in Victoria.
Prior to the weekend, the Wimmera league was ranked 17th and the Horsham District league 29th out of the 32 leagues that participated in the competition last year.
These rankings are based entirely on the interleague's senior football results, with leagues rising at least one place after a win.
The Horsham District league beat the Loddon Valley league by 34 points and the Wimmera league celebrated a 45-point win against the Murray league at the weekend.
AFL Wimmera-Mallee's Stephen McQueen said the rankings were a source of pride.
"The leagues are certainly concerned with their standing," McQueen said. "They like to see their rankings justify their quality compared to other leagues throughout the state. It's definitely a source of pride."
AFL Victoria's country community operations co-ordinator Brett Anderson said he hoped the rankings were an accurate representation of the strength of each league.
However he said it could be difficult to get the best players involved.
"Probably the hardest thing for the leagues is to get the buy in from players and clubs," Anderson said. "If we could get 100 per cent the best players from each league, the rankings would be a good representation of each league's strength, but that can be difficult at times."
Horsham District league's interleague co-ordinator Fred Mellington said the league was disappointed after a 60-point loss to Ellinbank and District Football league last year. The league and coach Nick Pekin worked hard to have a better side this season.
"Nick really busted his guts for it this year. Full credit to him," Mellington said.
"We take pride in winning, being as good as we can, and we probably should be ranked a bit better than where we are at the minute."
Horsham District's open netball coach Ebonie Salter said part of the value of interleague was to provide young athletes something to strive for.
"I think if the youngsters don't have anything to strive for or don't have good role models, netball as a whole won't stay relevant."
