In its inaugural year, players have delivered on the field to demonstrate they mean business in the season.
Club development officer Rob Lembo said the team came away with mixed results after their first game on the road, taking on Corangamite Lions at Scotts Creek
"The Little Pioneers came away with their first win of the season," he said.
"It's a great result for them in their first season.
"The seniors, unfortunately, went down against the reigning premiers 3-2.
"We started a bit flat and copped some early injuries."
Lembo said despite losing to the premiership side, it was pleasing to see the newly formed Pioneers can match up against successful clubs in the league.
"We have 21 players on our list, with some players injured and some more players interested in joining," he said.
"We know what we need to work on - we need to adapt quicker in terms of our structures. That will come in time after playing together more."
Sunday, the Pioneers will take on Deakin University at North Park. Juniors will start at 1pm and seniors to commence at 2.30.
