Sprinter Paddy Turner had a dream start to the Gift, qualifying for his first ever Gift semi final and reaching 200 metre final.
He was brought back down to earth in the Gift semi, pulling up with a hamstring injury which prevented him from racing in the 200m final later on Monday.
It was a largely successful weekend for the group, with coach Marcus Cooper winning a sash of his own in the emergency services race and several other athletes reaching finals.
"We had Emma Cooper finish third in her under 18 100 metres, with Danielle Segedinski and Caitlyn Nicholson also running," Cooper said.
"Eugene and Angus reached their 100m semis, and the Nicholson girls also ran in 400m finals.
"Our weekend was unreal and I am really proud of how everyone went about it. It sets up us for another big season next year."
Cooper said Turner's injury in the Gift semi "hurt" but they will bounce back for next year.
"It was bittersweet to see him be so successful but then go down like he did," he said.
"The goal was for him to make the Gift semis which he did but we think we could have snuck a win in the 200m. He had Lauren Wells in his sights.
"It is hurting not just Paddy but our team but we will bounce back bigger and stronger next year with another aggressive plan to have another good Gift."
