Stawell Athletic Club has made a plea to the people of Stawell and surrounding areas to spare some time over the Easter period to lend a hand with the organisation of Australia's richest footrace.
Stawell Athletic Club president Darryle Harrison said volunteers are needed across the whole weekend.
"We are after a group of volunteers who can assist us in the lead up to Easter on the Thursday and Friday as well as another group who can assist on the weekend," he said.
"It is mainly just helping set up the Gift track and the oval and assisting with small jobs that have to be done during the weekend."
The Stawell Gift is a volunteer-run event, with all Stawell Athletic Club committee members volunteers.
Mr Harrison said it is crucial to continue to bring in new faces to help the club moving forward.
"Our members aren't getting any younger and everyone on the committee has their jobs which keeps them very busy," he said.
"It takes a lot of organising and a lot of people to get it off the ground.
"It's quite a rare opportunity for people in a town the size of Stawell to be able to say they have helped with an event with the prestige, history and magnitude of the Gift."
Mr Harrison said anyone wishing to assist in anyway with the Gift should visit the Stawell Athletic Club office or call on 5358 1326.
