Grace,13, and Ella, 15, will play an integral role in the Formula 1 event as part of the pre-race grid activities.

The grid kids, consisting of young motorsport competitors from around Australia, aged between 8 and 18 years old, were selected after self-entering a competition.

"We had to write an entry of 30 words about why we love the sport," Ella said.

"I wrote something along the lines of being the only girls in the area competing in the sport - and I get to do it alongside my sister."

The pair will travel to Melbourne and participate in a range of activities.

"We haven't been told too much of what we have to do," Grace said.

"We have rehearsals on Saturday night and then the major event on Sunday. We will be on the grid with the F1 cars."

The sisters began driving go karts in 2018, travelling to Haddon as their home club.

"We are participating in the Victorian Country Series," Grace said.

"We had our first meet in Warrnambool in February."

The duo placed positively in the field for their first race.

"I placed 14th in the final and Ella was 16th out of 22," Grace said.

"We did practice and qualifying on Saturday and then raced on Sunday. I got taken out on the second corner in the final."

The series will take the drivers across the state with a total of six races.

"We currently race in a division where all the karts have to be the same weight with the drivers in them," Ella said.

"The karts have restrictors in them - which slows us down a little bit. Halfway through this year, I will move up to the next class and age group."

The young car enthusiasts have spent many years driving around their property in any kind of car they could find.

"We've always been into buggies and driving since we were about two or three," Grace said. "I love going around and meeting people and driving as fast as I can around the track."

In a male-dominated sport, Ella said she has found everyone to be very welcoming.

"There are lots of boys and a few girls getting into the sport now," she said.

"The boys give us a lot of support and they are all pretty good."

In a massive swing of extra-curricular activities, the girls are also dancers.

"We both do jazz, tap and ballet - everyone finds it funny that we do both sports," Ella said.

"When we go to Portland in two weeks for the next part of the series, we can't leave until we finish dancing for the week."

The siblings say when they are on the track, all love goes out the window.

"Our Dad said we probably get along the best at the track than anywhere," Ella said.

"When we're on we're not sisters - it's on, just like another person."
