The former Marnoo couple will celebrate with family and friends at the sports complex in Marnoo on Sunday 17.
The duo met at a ball in Marnoo many years ago.
"In those days dances and balls were hosted in a lot of small places in halls," Mr Newall said.
"It was then, while dancing many people met partners."
Mrs Newall said in those days, there weren't many ways to meet other people.
"Unless you followed football, there wasn't much else to do. The balls were always good fun," she said.
Mrs Newall grew up in the Rupanyup area while Mr Newall came from Marnoo.
Mr Newall, a returned serviceman, met Mrs Newall's brother Charlie Williams also a returned serviceman.
"We were both members of our respective RSLs and I got to know him pretty well at reunions and the like," he said.
"I saw this nice looking girl and I said to myself "I must have a dance with her" not knowing it was Charlie's sister."
Mr Newall said at that time, he didn't get around to asking Mrs Newall for a dance but he got another chance.
"At another dance, I got talking to Charlie and Joy passed by and poked a face at Charlie," he said.
Mr Williams let Mr Newall know that Mrs Newall was his sister.
"I told him I would like to meet her and he introduced me to her, it was all very formal," he said.
Mrs Newall said from then on, the rest was history.
"He asked me to dance and became great friends," she said.
Mrs Newall said her wedding day was "absolutely beautiful".
"If you were ordering it you wouldn't have the cheek - just a faint south breeze and just a lovely sunny day," she said.
"There were no problems - it all went off without a hitch."
Mr and Mrs Newall have five children; Ken (deceased), Ruth, Greg, Lynette and Peter.
Their family tree grew with the addition of twelve grandchildren.
The couple will be celebrating soon, as another addition is added. A great-grandchild is on the way, adding to the nine they already have.
Mr Newall served 26 consecutive years as a Stawell Councillor, two terms as Shire president and former North Western Municipality president.
A keen spectator of football, Mr Newall spent many years following the Wimmera League games in the district and was joined by Mrs Newall's father.
Mrs Newall kept herself busy with many volunteer groups and was an avid golfer.
"I was a member of all the usual things," she said.
"Everyone was involved in one way or another in those days otherwise small communities wouldn't run."
With many older women in the community famous for a speciality bake - Mrs Newall is no exception.
"Everyone knew what others would generally bring and I was famous for my Honey Roll," Mrs Newall said.
The couple moved to Donald six years ago - ironically on their wedding anniversary.
"Our kids went to high school in Donald and that was about our only connection," Mrs Newall said.
"We looked around at our options and we settled on our place."
Mr Newall, 99 and Mrs Newall, 91 now spend their time, still in their own home together.
"We don't get up to much these days - we watch some tv and read the newspapers and have a beautiful outlook from our home and we watch the world go by," Mrs Newall said.
"We aren't as mobile as we were it's a big effort to get out and about.
"We just sit and enjoy each others company."
When reflecting back on their "wonderful marriage" Mr Newall said it all comes down to one thing.
"I'm just lucky I married the most wonderful girl in the country," he said.
