The Minus18 Queer formal is an event where young LGBTIQ+ they can express themselves, and be supported and celebrated. It will be held in Melbourne on April 6.
After the success of last year's formal, headspace Horsham is planning its second trip to the event.
Headspace Horsham LGBTI Youth Support worker Maddi Ostapiw said last year's event was a memorable and empowering experience for those who attended.
"The formal allows LGBTIQ+ youth to be themselves by providing an alternative to school formals and debutante balls," they said.
“We are limited to taking 40 young people, so we encourage people under the age of 18 to reach out to us at headspace Horsham if they are interested in going.
“You can dress as ‘cute’ as you want, this is an event where your clothing can match your gender identity and all colours of the rainbow are loved equally.
"Last year it was relieving for our young LGBTIQ+ community to be around other like people and not be judged. Some of the attendees even described the night as heaven on earth."
