Senior Constable Tim Thomson started at Landsborough police station in early February, filling a vacancy that existed since April 2018.
Senior Constable Thomson arrives at Landsborough following two-and-a-half years at Robinvale and Ballarat before that.
He comes to the town with wife Amanda and two chldren, Sienna, 6 and Ben, 2.
He said he has had a good start to the new role.
"Everyone has been very welcoming, I've really enjoyed meeting community members," Senior Constable Thomson said.
"We are extremely privileged and excited to be here.
"I will have a strong focus on community engagement and getting out into the community."

Senior Constable Thomson said his first month in the role has been a busy one.
"I've found it quite good but busier than I expected," he said.
"I have spent a lot of time working with neighboring stations with quite a few jobs around the district.
"They have kept me busier than I expected early on.
"Being at a station by myself is a little challenging but it is something I quite enjoy to be honest."
