Fire crews remain at the scene of a grassfire that burnt on the Western Highway on Wednesday afternoon. CFA district 16 operations officer Ian Morley said the highway remained closed on Thursday morning as crews worked to make the path safe. "The railway remained open at reduced speed, we will continue work out there to ensure there are no flare ups," he said. "The cause appears to be accidental from a vehicle losing a wheel or mechanical damage, something like that," he said. Mr Morley said the full extent of the fire is unclear just yet. "The damage is minimal as far as I can tell," he said. "A hay shed and some hay was lost out there but we aren't sure on the size yet. "No structures were lost but probably some fencing." VicRoads confirmed speed restrictions were in place between Langi Ghiran Picnic Road and Brady’s Road and will remain in place for up to three days.
