Taylors Lake can have its quiet times and last weekend was no exception, proving very quiet on the fishing front. Stawell Angling club joined with Ballarat and Lake Bolac angling clubs for an interclub competition, which only produced five yellow belly for the entire weekend. For the Stawell Anglers, Doug Collins took out first place catching two yellas, with a total length of 81cm. Runner-up was Gavin Keilar, with a 37cm yella, while Darren Smith landed a 31.5cm yella for third. Doug also took out the Armstrong Concrete award for the longest fish, with a 49cm yellow belly. The next club competition will be at Portland on the Labor Day weekend from Saturday, March 9. The competition will begin at 6am on the Saturday and will run until 6pm on Sunday. Weigh-in will be at the Portland Tourist Park.
