Stawell residents will have an opportunity to meet and greet a potential new family member from 9am-1pm.
The initiative, run by PETstock’s charity arm PETstock Assist and leading adoption site PetRescue, is hoping to double the number of pets adopted during 2019 to 1,000.
PETstock Assist charity and events coordinator Jess Guilfoyle said every pet is unique and individual.
“I encourage people considering a new pet to keep an open mind – you may just be surprised by who you fall for,” she said.
“Love really does know no breed.”
Adoptable Pet Rescue treasurer Shae Holloway said the group were excited to have most of their kittens available for adoption on display.
“There will be lots of volunteers there on the day to assist with any questions people may have in regards to adopting a pet,” she said.
“We will have booklets on the day which will highlight all of our animals available for adoption.
“Unfortunately we can’t bring every animal to the event, but there will be plenty of kittens there ready to have a cuddle and some to go to their new home.”
Mrs Holloway said residents are more than welcome to come down on the day if they also require assistance with their current animal.
“Our aim is to keep pets in a suitable home,” she said.
“If anyone is needing some guidance we would be more than happy to help with any issue people may have.
“This could be from animals getting along with each other to what to do on hot days – there will be plenty of people on the day willing to share their knowledge.”
