Country Fire Authority crews were alerted to the fire, located five kilometres south of the town on Willaura-Wickliffe Road, at 2.13pm Wednesday afternoon.
District 16 operations officer Neville Collins said crews brought the fire under control within 30 minutes.
“There are a number of private and CFA appliances on scene,” he said.
Two trucks attended from the Willaura brigade and one from Wickliffe, as well as two water carriers.
Mr Collins said crews will remain on scene for “quite a while.”
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Although Wednesday wasn’t declared a total fire ban, temperatures did reach the high 30s and the fire danger rating was high.
