SERVICES to the Ararat/Maryborough train line experienced a significant drop in punctuality in December.
Performance figures released Thursday showed that only 76.6 per cent of trains were on time.
The figure reflects an 11 per cent drop from the November figure of 86.1 per cent.
Punctuality has not been so low since June 2018, when the figure was 76.4 per cent.
V/Line’s punctuality target is 92 per cent, meaning it fell significantly short.
Conversely, reliability was high at 98.5 per cent for December.
The figure is consistent with the November figure of 98.3 per cent.
V/Line’s reliability target is 96 per cent for scheduled services, meaning that it has exceeded its target for December.
PTV chief executive Jeroen Weimar said improvements to the service were ongoing.
“Patronage continues to grow significantly on our regional network, which makes some of the significant improvements we have seen in recent months, including on our busiest lines, a real step in the right direction that we need to build on in 2019,” he said.
