Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre and Stawell Neighbourhood House are hosting programs throughout the rest of the holidays, allowing children to participate in a vast range of activities.
Stawell Neighbourhood House coordinator Lisa Arnfield said she was pleased with the response so far, given the program has just started.
“It’s been wonderful to have a break over the festive season, but we are right back at it with plenty of things to do during the school holidays,” she said.
Cooking is a popular choice at the Neighbourhood House and Mrs Arnfield said the coordinators have been working hard to create more room following in the program an enthusiastic response.
“We try and base our programs around fun and hope the children can learn some life skills along the way,” she said.
“It’s all about engagement and making sure each child who attends does things to the best of their ability.”
Mrs Arnfield said a big focus this year at the Neighbourhood house will be continuing to listen to what participants want from the facilities.
“Of course we can’t offer absolutely everything but we are really honing in on what need is there and that is our focus,” she said.
“Out of our school holiday programs we have formed other groups such as our Dungeons and Dragons catch ups where more than 20 people participate.”
Mrs Anfield reminded residents to register for any program.
“We do have limited spots available for some programs and for planning purposes it is very helpful if we have an indication of numbers,” she said.
Stawell Sports and Aquatic Centre is also hosting daily acitivites from 10am-12pm.
The centre will wrap up their action packed holiday program with a pool party on Australia Day.
The pool party will run from 1pm-6pm.
