The football department is looking to bring youth into the mix next season, which is one direction Cam Brown had looked at doing.
“All of our young boys have signed,” he said.
“All the young kids are all back and it is mainly to get our core group of juniors up and running.”
The club has also started pre-season with an aim to build on the sixth spot from last season.
Brown said he is happy with how things are tracking.
“We have had two training sessions with approximately 15-20 people at both so it’s been pretty solid numbers,” he said.
“There have been two under-16s but the rest have been senior footballers, we’ve had a few apologies with a few players coming down from Ballarat.”
There were no new major signings of late, but the club is targeting Ballarat for the season ahead.
Another exciting thing that is happening for the Pumas is that every player who plays a senior game will get a match payment, which will be the first time the club has ever done that.
“That is going to be a bonus. Win, lose or draw, we will be looking after our locals,” he said.
“It is obviously a massive thing for the juniors.
“Anyone that plays in the firsts will get a minimum match payment and that is the first time Moyston-Willaura Football Netball Club have ever done that.
“It was very well received.”
As for the season ahead, Brown’s plan is simple.
“Just to be competitive and to prove the doubters wrong,” he said.
“Make sure we put a competitive side out there each week and grow form there.
“It’s very exciting to see the development from the young blokes that have to step up.”
