Readers of the Ararat Advertiser have shown they value their local news source and the role it plays in their day-to-day lives.
Through the purchase of a digital news subscription, readers have financially supported our team so we can continue to provide the news that matters to you. Our digital subscriber numbers are growing every day. We also know what matters to you is constantly changing; what you expect from us is constantly changing. And so we are changing with you.
A digital news subscription doesn’t mean changes to the availability of your bi-weekly newspaper. But it does allow readers to choose how they consume their local news and how to support local journalists to tell that news. It allows us, as a news team, to be more connected than ever before – regardless of where our readers live. The data we gain from our online readership means we can continue to tailor the content to what our readers need and want most.
Through your consumption of our news online, you’re telling us that crime and breaking news is most important to you.
You’re also emphasising that reporting on council, rural, business, property and sport – particularly football and netball – matters.
Our strategic plan in the coming weeks is to increase our focus on the topics you enjoy most. That might mean changes to what you’re used to. But to remain relevant, these changes will be made. We will continue to ask the hard questions and report the news of the day – without fear or favour.
Fairfax Media and Nine merged earlier this month. The united entity is now known as Nine and the Ararat Advertiser is part of Nine’s Australian Community Media regional publishing business.
Behind the scenes, that means the Ararat Advertiser can remain up-to-date with the latest technology and trends with the backing of a large media organisation.
For you, the reader, it has little meaning. The content, and the decision making, you see is driven by our local team every day. We live in the community and we love our community.
We will be working to deliver your local news almost every day during the Christmas break. The news doesn’t stop, you don’t stop and neither do we.
That’s our commitment to you.
