It was meant to be the pick of the bunch when Chalambar faced off against Rhmney/Moyston to begin round eight, but it wasn’t meant to be as Chalambar won on forfeit and remain in first place.
Over in Stawell, Youth Club got a team up to play Halls Gap who were looking to make it two wins in a row.
Halls Gap won the toss and elected to bat making 9-104, with Brett Gay being top scorer for the side, as he made 24.
Youth Club then went into bat and chased down the target set by Halls Gap with eight overs to spare as the hosts ended their innings 9-128, with Trent Homden top scoring with 30 runs.
There was reason to smile for Halls Gap bowler Dillon Micallef, who bowled seven overs, taking four wickets for 25 runs.
Pomonal were itching for a win after coming so close to Swifts-Great Western only to fall short at the last hurdle in round seven, while Navarre were looking to make it two wins a row after they won by forfeit in round seven.
Navarre sent themselves in after winning the toss and posted a mammoth total of 8-179, with Jesse Hannett top scoring with 83 runs.
Pomonal could only master 9-119 of their 40 overs, with no official scores from the players available at time of print. Lachlan Wilkinson was the pick of Navarre bowlers as he snared three wickets for five runs off eight overs.
Heading into round eight, Wickliffe-Lake Bolac wanted to put a much higher score than their 35 against Buangor/Tatyoon in round seven.
They did but unfortunately they were chasing Swifts-Great Western’s total of 8-173 declared.
Craig Marrow was one run shy of his century as he finished with 99 not out.
In reply Wickliffe-Lake Bolac posted 65 off 23 overs with Trevor Remfry the shining light making 22.
Buangor/Tatyoon had the bye.
