On November 1, a truck travelling south-bound on Vincent Street had clipped the pole on the traffic island between lanes as it turned left into High Street.
The entire traffic light was knocked down and it had to be sawed into pieces by SES crew in order to remove it from the road. The incident caused minor delays to traffic throughout the afternoon.
Construction crews were at the site Wednesday morning to replace the traffic light.
Commuters experienced minor delays as traffic was directed around the work from all four streets leading into the intersection. It is expected that the lights will be operational by next week.
The roads are both managed by VicRoads, who said that this is the second incident at that location since July 2017 resulting in damage to the traffic signals.
