The ballot draw will take place at the Ripon electorate office in Stawell from 1pm on Friday.
Candidates will be hoping to draw a place towards the top of the ballot which will be drawn at random.
Eight candidates have nominated for Ripon as of Friday morning, with the potential for a last-minute independent to be nominated.
At the 2014 draw, Nationals candidate Scott Turner drew the top position on the ballot. Whether that had an effect or not, Turner polled very well in the election, with his preferences helping Lousie Staley (Liberals) hold on for a very tight win.
