The Ararat velodrome will host numerous events for competitors of all ages. 

The day begins at 2.30pm with the junior division, before the open age races begin from 5.30pm.

The race program includes Junior 19 Victorian Scratch Race Championships for men and women.

The track carnival has been going for more than 45 years, and Ararat and District Cycling Club president Bruce Hamilton said it was great to see the support for the event.

“We have a lot of people who annually visit Ararat and make a whole weekend of the event which is great for the town,” he said.

A feature event is the Business House Wheel Race.

“Businesses in Ararat have the opportunity to sponsor a rider in the race and if the particular rider wins, they are able to keep the trophy in the shop,” Hamilton said.

Riders from interstate and across Victoria will be in attendance.

“It’s always a high standard event. We try and do the best we can with all the volunteers. We have been running the event for a very long time and don’t usually have too many hiccups,” he said.
