The Northern Grampians Shire Council is likely to have a new mayor for the next 12 months after councillor Tony Driscoll signalled his intent not to re-stand for the top job.

Northern Grampians Shire Council will host a statutory meeting at the council chambers at Stawell’s Pleasant Creek Historic Precinct from 6pm on Monday November 12.
Cr Driscoll told The Stawell Times-News he is unlikely to re-nominate for the position of mayor.
“It won’t be happening at this stage,” he said.

Cr Driscoll served as Northern Grampians Shire mayor for the last two terms.
Councillors will each vote at the meeting, with the councillor receiving most votes to take the position as mayor for the next 12 months.
Cr Kevin Erwin has signalled his intent to replace Cr Driscoll as mayor.
“I will be putting my hand up to run for mayor on Monday,” he said.
Crs Murray Emerson, Rob Haswell, Jason Hosemans and Merrilee Reid have ruled themselves out of the mayoral race. Cr Karen Hyslop declined to comment.
Council will also host an ordinary meeting earlier in the day on Monday. The meeting will take place from 12.30pm also at the council chambers at Stawell’s Pleasant Creek Historic Precinct.
