Buangor’s Chris Hartwich battled hard, but he was up against it with five Elmhurst players undefeated at the end of play - Matt Haddow, Mel Murnane, Sally Roberts, Lisa Haddow and Aimee Harrison.
The end result may have been 55 games (104-49), but the scary part is the ladder leaders still have players to return to the team.
Crowlands conquered a persistent Ararat to the tune of 22 games.
Home team Ararat proved it could match it with the best by drawing the men’s section, thanks to the return of club legend John Hannett.
Hannett finished his day without a scratch to his name as he tried hard to steer his side to success, however Crowlands had other ideas and ran away with nine of the available 10 points.
Alana Newberry and Annabelle Price were brilliant in their ladies’ sets and then finished their mixed matches off strongly in the 95-73 win.
Mininera Ararat and District Junior Tennis
On Saturday Ararat Gold was at home against Willaura 1 resulting in a fantastic game. Willaura 1 took the four points in a very close contest, two sets 23 games to two sets 19 games. Both Gold’s sets were won in tie-breakers.
Moyston and the Ararat Silver Aces faced each other with Moyston winning the day three sets 20 games to one set 14 games. Moyston’s two youngest players Luci Grayling and Sophie Birch showed great improvement and the umpire remarked on the fantastic skills all Silver Ace players are developing, particularly Cohen King and Zak Whitford.
Mininera hosted the Blue Belles in Round 4 with Mininera victors four sets 25 games to 0 sets 10 games.
Ararat White played Buangor at home and the strength of White saw them take the four points again winning four sets 24 games to 0 sets one game.
Given White players were almost double the height of the Buangor team, William and Jack did well to win Buangor’s one game.
The final game was played at Tatyoon with Ararat Red the visiting team. Tatyoon’s high player numbers rotating each week meant Millie made her debut in Round 4. Ararat Red’s more experienced players proved too strong for Tatyoon this week winning four sets 24 games to 0 sets four games.
