Stawell police executed a warrant at a residential home in Holmes Court, Stawell just before 8.30am on Tuesday.
They located “approximately 200 cannabis plants growing in the house and in a shed on the property”. The plants were in various stages of growth.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said no-one was at the premises when the warrant was executed and investigators are continuing to make inquiries regarding who occupies the house.
Stawell resident Kerri Sheen said she saw parts of the raid unfold throughout the day.
“When I came home from dropping my daughter off at school, there were three police cars, a black van and an electricity ute out the front of that house,” she said.
“When I came past there was no door, just a blanket in the doorway.
“Then when I was leaving to go to work, the big black van was parked in the garage with police in the garage and when I got home from work at about 2pm there was a big removalist-type truck in the garage.
“I didn't know what was going on because it is a pretty quiet street.”
Stawell Senior Sergeant and Station Commander Tevis Wright said the raid was a “great result”.
“It is a real positive from our point of view. We're happy with the result of that amount of drugs not making it into the community,” he said.
“We work with the community and rely on the community to provide information and continue to encourage people to call us at the station or Crime Stoppers if they notice any criminal activity at all.”
