The new book is dedicated to the late Ruth Brain, former president of the Moyston-Willaura Football Netball Club.
Thomas Wentworth Wills was a sportsman who is famously known as Australia's first cricketer of significance and a founder of Australian football.
He grew up in Moyston where he befriended local Aboriginals, learning their language and customs and has been reported, played football using possum skin.
This isn’t the first time Mr Flanagan has published narrative around Tom Wills, but it is the first as a film treatment.
“I dared myself to actually picture Tom Wills in the various situations I knew him to have been in during his life and backed my fancy,” he said.
The new book is filled with Mr Flanagan’s interpretation after extensive research for many years. In 1998, he wrote “The Call”, a book recreating the life of Tom Wills.
