With a good allocation of water being let into Lake Fyans over the past couple of months, there should be no reason why the club’s 64th year of sailing won’t be as successful as previous seasons have been.
The club has a number of sailing events scheduled for season 2018-19, including the annual Western Region Regatta on the weekend before Melbourne Cup Day. The exciting event attracts sailors from all over Victorian and eastern South Australia.
Two short races were held in light winds last Sunday.
As always, there was some close racing, with the majority one design dinghy fleet.
In the first race, Mark Knights took line honors with a clear lead for most of the race.
In the second event, Ross Bennett was first over the line after a tight duel with Jan Ibs von Seht.
Hopefully there will be a little more wind to blow the cobwebs out and start the season proper next weekend.
