The Ararat Musical Comedy Society will stage the famous production in June 2019 and is looking for cast and crew members from Ararat and surrounding towns to participate.
Director Pam Wright said interest had already been strong from performers as far away as Melbourne, as Les Misérables was a “bucket list” production for many musical theatre performers.
“We are so thrilled our announcement of Les Misérables has caused such a positive stir among musical theatre performers across the region,” she said.
“But it’s not a surprise. Most performers – from community theatre through to professionals – want the chance to participate in Les Mis at least once in their lifetime.”
Stephen East will be musical director.
The society will host an information night on Thursday and Mrs Wright urged anyone interested in participating, whether on stage or behind the scenes, to attend.
The society will also use the night to begin booking auditions, which will be held between October 5 and 7.
Mrs Wright said anyone wanting to book an audition, but who were unable to attend the evening, could phone 0438 524 793 after 7.30pm any evening prior.
The night will take place at the Ararat 800 Primary School multipurpose room, on the corner of Kin and Rundell streets, at 7pm.
