Horsham Saints had the upper-hand coming into the final series.
The minor premiers defeated Demons twice this season – first in round one and again in round 10. But, Demons had the chance to rattle Saints in the semi-finals, claiming a five-goal victory to book its spot in the final decider.
Horsham coach Jodi Potter said her team has versatility and depth, which challenged its opposition.
“We have a number of combinations we can go with and can adapt on the day,” she said. “We have matched up differently throughout the year and they have had a different team too.
“But, I think whatever combination they go with on the day, we can definitely match that.
“We have a full team plus top juniors who have qualified during the year. I have a fit team to choose from.”
Potter said the Saints were a strong opposition to play all season, but her team needs to stick to their game plan.
“Saints’ shooter Megan Byrne is a great player and Jess Cannane coming from an A grade premiership and that experience for a number of years means she is strong player,” she said.
“We’ll stick to our systems and the game plan we have been practicing all season.
“They are tough and the game will be physical, but we are fully prepared for that.”
Horsham Saints coach Shannon Reinheimer said her team’s athleticism and height in the goal rings would play the sides’ advantage.
“We have an athletic mid-court. Byrne won the most consistent in the B grade best and fairest. She plays centre and is athletic down the court – providing drive and direction through all four quarters,” she said.
“We have a tall goal shooter with Jordan Austin who can get those rebounds if needed and also a tall goal keeper in Georgia Barnett in the defensive end.”
Reinheimer said her side would need to take care of ball down the court because Demons had strong defensive pressure.
“They are always good at their defensive pressure down the court and we need to be aware of that,” she said.
“We need to be sure of our passes and take care of the ball. Throughout the season we have been trying to look long and that hasn’t work for us. We need to play short and sharp – work through their defensive pressure.”
Demons and Saints coaches are impressed their club’s dominated the league with both sides representing in the all three senior netball matches. Demons also have teams playing in each junior grand final.
