Playing in front of a big home crowd at Ararat’s Alexandra Oval, the Eagles got off to a flying start.
They kept the Hawks to just two goals in the first term to hold the ascendancy going into the second quarter.
Heavy rain was not able to stop either side as the game progressed, with both sides scoring seven goals each in the second term.
Ararat made its move in the premiership quarter, putting in 11 goals to blow the lead out to seven, making things very tough for the Hawks.
Tatyoon fought back strongly in the final quarter but the deficit was too large, falling short 28 to 25.
Experienced Toni Chegwin and Sarah West were influential for the Eagles, with Chegwin picking up the medal for best on court.
More to come.
