The Stawell Rotary Club has selected the Marian College student to attend the National Youth Science Forum in January.
The forum runs each year for students about to enter year 12. Rotary is one of the forum’s founding partners.
Sarah will attend a two-week residential program for students who want to work in the science and technology field.
She said she was honoured to be selected for the prestigious event.
“There are so many good things that our Rotary club does in the community. I truly feel blessed that they have also now given me this opportunity,” she said.
Sarah had to submit a formal application demonstrating her interest in science and what attending the forum would mean to her.
She also made a presentation to Stawell Rotary Club as part of her application.
She then participated in a formal interview and debate before being offered a place in the program.
Stawell Rotary Club president John Launder said he had no reservations about recommending Sarah for the forum.
“Sarah has a genuine interest and an excellent understanding for physics, chemistry and mathematics, and Stawell Rotary believes she will be a wonderful ambassador for the Stawell community and Rotary at the forum,” he said.
Ararat Rotary Club has also expressed interest in supporting Sarah at the forum.
