Aged care staff are recognised for their contribution through a number of activities between September 10 and 15.
The health service provides three aged care facilities to the community – 70 Lowe Street, Garden View Court and Willaura Healthcare Parkland House.
Acting chief executive Andrew Freeman said aged care staff were “essential” to residents’ quality of life and helped provide a “safe and supportive” home for people requiring care.
“We are really looking forward to taking a day out to recognise the high-quality expertise of our staff and to foster appreciation for the work they do every day,” Mr Freeman said.
“We hope residents will get involved in the celebrations, too, because they – more than anyone – can demonstrate how important it is to have aged care staff who care and are committed to giving their best in their work.”
The health service will host a barbecue at Garden View Court to celebrate the contribution of all staff.
This will provide staff the opportunity to share stories about the rewarding work of caring for others in public residential aged care.
Celebrating Aged Care Week is an initiative of the Public Sector Residential Aged Care Leadership Committee since 2012.
The theme of the campaign in 2018 is “We Care”. The campaign reflects on appreciation of the public sector residential aged care workforce and the role they play in caring for senior Victorians.
The Public Sector Residential Aged Care Leadership Committee host celebrations annually.
