Glorious sunshine greeted the field of 30 in the ladies String Stableford on Wednesday. Players were given a length of string depending on their handicap and were able to use it once on each hole to improve their position. This created a fun and relaxed atmosphere with most ladies taking full advantage of their string to post big scores.
Best result of the day came from Chris Hurstfield who took out B grade with a monster score of 58 points. C grade was taken out by Marlene Goudie on 51 while 48 points was enough to take the A grade for Gayle Dadswell.
The numbers are getting back to normal on Saturdays, courtesy of the improving weather. Mary Halstead found the drier conditions on course to her liking and posted 34 stableford points to take the event. Runner up was Gayle Dadswell.
A large field also gathered for Monday’s 12-hole stableford. Marilyn Brady showed the rest a clean pair of heels and took the win with 22 points. Runner up was decided by a three way count back. Judy Edwards got the nod ahead of Rene Hamilton and Mary Halstead after they all finished with 20 points.
Next week is the stroke event for the September Brooch and it promises some hard fought golf.
