In the final round of the season, the two bottom teams had plenty on the line with the loser of the clash taking home the wooden spoon for 2018.
It was a tight contest in the first half but it was in the third term the game opened up. The Eagles doubled their score in one term, booting four goals to move out to a 22-point lead going into the final term.
Caramut came home strongly but fell short 9.9 (63) to 8.9 (57) to win the unwanted wooden spoon.
Case Maxwell kicked one goal as the best on ground for the Eagles, while Chris Dahlstrom and Lara Nambirajan had two majors each in the low-scoring game.
It was Ararat’s third win of the season and its first since round six.
