The school has teamed up with Specsavers who will provide $2,000 to the school.
Stawell Primary School principal Robyn Jones said the sponsorship will allow the school to add to its reading resources.
“We are just so grateful to the team at Specsavers for their generosity towards our school,” she said.
“The sponsorship has allowed us to not only purchase the Children’s Book Week finalist books for our students, but also to add to our reading resources for each classroom.
“Books are just so expensive and we all know how important learning to read is, which makes this donation all the more special for our school.
“We are proud of the Stawell community and want our school to be involved whenever we can.
“For initiating this sponsorship possibility with Specsavers, I would like to recognise the work of our Parent Club Vice-President, Helen Grobbelaar, and say a huge thank you to Ross Lumley at Stawell Lotto for his willingness to discount the price of our books. It was a very generous gesture, which allowed us to maximise the Specsaver’s donation.”
Martie Peter from Specsavers said it was important for businesses to give back to the community.
“It is about giving back and making a difference to the community we are based in,” she said.
