A 66-year-old Ballarat woman has been struck and killed by a train in Wendouree.

A major emergency response is unfolding, with police have blocking off Forest Street, near McDonalds and Woolworths, where the woman was hit near the pedestrian crossing about 1.20pm.
The train was the 12.26pm Ararat-Southern Cross service.
The train has come to a halt a few hundred metres from where the person was struck.
There are a number of police, ambulance and firefighters at the scene.
Police have blocked off a number of roads around the area and people are strongly urged to avoid the area.
Investigators are on the scene talking to witnesses, including passengers who were on the train.
Police are yet to determine if it was an accident.
