While the conditions underfoot were wet, the scores were good and the teams fought out a close contest.
The combination of Chris Dohnt (handicap 13), Mary Bruce (38) both from Chalambar and Heather Fleming (32) from Willaura took the win with a score of 73. The runner up team was hot on their heels with 73.
Settling for second best were Gayle Dadswell (15) and Pam Brennan (43) and their Willaura team mate Lisa Heard (35).
With soggy fairways the ladies found the par 3 holes difficult to master and several nearest the pin awards went begging.
Rene Hamilton and Sandra Brady claimed the only two for the day. Next year’s return event will be hosted by Willaura.
The stablefords on Saturday and Monday both had smaller fields than normal and scores were modest. Marlene Goudie claimed victory in Saturday’s event with Pam Brennan taking out the only NTP award. The very consistent Rene Hamilton finished best on Monday.
The men’s competition at the weekend saw Taine Pearse back on the golf course and in possibly the best form of his career posting a 74-3-71 to take out the August Monthly Medal, A Grade and the best scratch trophy.
Runner up was Geoff White on net 72.
With the course not giving anything away in theses heavy winter conditions, the going was tough.
In "B" Grade part timer Richard Schwab posted a net 73 to beat Rob Arthur on 74.
Nearest the pins went to Rob Harricks, Craig Potter, Daryl Dunford, White and Nick Lloyd. Peter Brady showed glimpses of form to take out yhe Secret 6 trophy.
