“Police intercepted a 52-year-old South Australia man driving on the Wimmera Highway near St Arnaud travelling at 116km/h in a 100km/h zone,” he said.
“Police searched his vehicle and located a small amount of cannabis, drug paraphernalia, including syringes, and a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine.
“The man was arrested and taken to St Arnaud Police Station charged with possession and use of dependent drugs. He was bailed and will appear at St Arnaud Magistrates’ Court on October 11.”
He said police detected a further four speeding driver, two unregistered vehicles during the operation in St Arnaud.
“One of the drivers driving an unregistered vehicle evaded police for a short time before being intercepted in the St Arnaud township,” he said.
“The 51-year-old St Arnaud man will appear at St Arnaud Magistrates’ Court at a later date to face charges of evading police and driving a unregistered motor vehicle.”
