The squad was picked from a wide area, including the AFL Wimmera Mallee, AFL Goldfields and AFL Western Districts zones.
AFL Wimmera Mallee development manager and the team’s manager Jason Muldoon said the selection process was a thorough one.
“The selection process was very thorough, we are bringing together players from across the Western Bulldogs Next Generation Academy zones, which is a huge area,” he said.
“The selectors and academy coaches have worked hard to ensure the players had the best opportunity to display their skills”
The academy is designed as a stepping stone into the Greater Western Victoria Rebels program.
“This is the final step in the academy for all of these players and they will transition into the Rebels program later in the year,” Muldoon said.
“We are hoping these players will go onto become TAC Cup players for the Rebels. We expect to see gradual development amongst the group over the V/Line Cup, and as they progress through to the Rebels under-16 program.”
