The Lions host a winless Caramut side in a big day for the club.
Injuries have plagued Great Western for most of the season and the curse struck again during the week, with Aidan Marr fracturing his collarbone at training on Tuesday night.
“It is really disappointing to lose Aidan especially since he has had other injury concerns throughout the season,” Great Western coach Will Bell said.
Although Marr is now out for the season the Lions will welcome back a cast of top quality players including Steve Lorenzo, Justin Thomas, Danny Grellet and Tom McCord.
Bell said a week off last week has served his side well.
“Everyone pretty fresh. It is a long season so it was good to have the week off for guys to take time with their family and friends,” he said.
“Such a long season can be mentally draining sometimes so it was nice to have a break.
“In our first session back the energy was great and I could tell the guys were genuinely excited to be back.”
As well as bringing back some experienced players Bell said he is likely to give some juniors an opportunity as well.
“There have been some young guys performing well in the juniors or reserves so they will probably get a look in for this match,” he said.
“It will be a good game for them to get a run in.”
Saturday’s game will be an emotional one for Great Western, with the passing of former president and club icon Rodney Matheson during the week.
“Rod was a great guy and loved the club so much,” Bell said.
“I know all the guys will be wanting to get the win for him.”
Despite not winning a game so far this season the Swans have improved in recent weeks, pushing second-placed Penshurst to five goals the week before the bye.
Bell said he is not taking Caramut for granted.
“We have to play good football to win the game,” he said.
“In the last few weeks we have been competing a lot better but one-quarter lapses have cost us badly.
“We need to be switched on for the whole match this weekend.
“If we can do that we will be right in the hunt.”
