A four goals to zero first term set up the win for the ladder leaders but the Mounties fought back in the second half but fell short at the final siren 4.4.28 to 5.5.35.
Charlie Leishman and Sinclair Burmeister both kicked two goals each for the Warriors and Mounties respectively.
Jim Jennings was named the Warriors’ best while Floyd Burmeister was best on ground for the Mounties.
In the other game, it was the Rovers who were too strong for the Bombers in the round eight match by six points.
The Rovers had the wind advantage in the first quarter and made the most of it, keeping the Bombers scoreless while kicking 3.3 to take the early lead.
Two goals to the Bombers in the second term got the team back into it with the margin just two points.
The Bombers could have taken the lead if they were more accurate, kicking 2.7 for the term which proved costly as the Rovers managed two more goals in the third term.
The Bombers went into the final term trailing by three goals but fell just short of the win, losing 4.9.33 to 5.9.39.
Jackson Baker kicked two majors for the Rovers while Brady Weppner also kicked two to top the Bombers scoring. Sonny Kettle was the Rovers’ best player while Sam Phillips was named the Bombers best.
It leaves the Warriors in top spot ahead of the Rovers, Mounties and Bombers.
