A 37-YEAR-OLD Stawell woman has been arrested by police following an alleged assault on an elderly man.

Early yesterday morning an 81-year-old man was assaulted after saying hello to a passerby on the street.
When he turned to get away from the offender he was pushed to the ground.
He sustained head injuries and was taken to hospital by someone who found him on the street.
The offender was arrested in Stawell by the Ararat Criminal Investigation Unit, Detective Senior Constable of the unit Mal Wineberg said.
“She has been charged with recklessly causing serious injury,” he said.
The offender has been bailed and is due to face the Stawell Magistrates’ Court on August 28.
“We would like to thank the community for their assistance, but the investigation remains ongoing,” Detective Senior Constable Wineberg said.
