Because the fairways have less run and the greens are softer and slower, players need to adjust all aspects of their game.
Wednesday’s golf was a stableford foursomes. Only two pairs managed to score over 30 points. Best on the day was the combination of Marilyn Brady (handicap 24) and Margie Kilpatrick (38) who finished with 33 points. Only one point in arrears was Ceal Gubbins and her partner Liz de Fegely.
The stableford on Saturday was taken out by Ellen Pollock, who played off a handicap of seven to return 32 points. Chris Dohnt was not far away on 31 points and Gayle Dadswell picked up the only nearest the pin award.
The ladies still competed in a 9-hole stableford on Monday despite it being the Queen’s Birthday holiday. Dadswell was the best of the field with her 19 points. Runner-up was Sue White and Rene Hamilton took out the nearest the pin.
